A substantial cartographic compilation devoted to George Washington and his activities as surveyor, soldier, landowner, traveler, and statesman. Edited by Lawrence Martin and issued in 1932 by the United States George Washington Bicentennial Commission, the atlas brings together reproductions of maps drawn by Washington, maps used or annotated by him, maps prepared at his direction or for his use, and later historical maps illustrating his travels, military campaigns, land interests, and other aspects of his life. Of particular interest for the study of Washington’s surveying work and the cartographic record of colonial and Revolutionary America, the volume also provides a useful visual survey of eighteenth-century geography and military history. Formerly an institutionally held copy with their ink stamp, minimal rubbing, else in very good condition. Item #590
