A substantial bound run of the scarce First Series of The Theosophical Forum, one of the important early American Theosophical periodicals associated with William Quan Judge and the Theosophical Society in America. Published between 1889 and 1895, the periodical appeared in a question-and-answer format, addressing Theosophical doctrine, occult philosophy, karma, reincarnation, spiritual development, ethics, metaphysics, and related esoteric subjects. This volume contains 54 of the 70 issues in the First Series, lacking Nos. 1–4, 9–13, 16, 18, 38–39, 43–44, and 61. Despite the missing numbers, this remains a desirable and substantial early run of a fragile and ephemeral Theosophical publication, appealing to collectors of Theosophy, William Quan Judge, H. P. Blavatsky, American occultism, esoteric periodicals, and nineteenth-century metaphysical movements.
