Signed and inscribed by both Duke Kahanamoku and Sam Kahanamoku, each dated April 21, 1936. Sam Kahanamoku’s inscription appears on the inside of the front board, while Duke Kahanamoku’s signature is placed within the volume on a photographic portrait of himself—an especially desirable and visually compelling placement that strongly reinforces the historical connection between signer and subject.
